Hi, I’m James Hunter Crossley.

James is an international handpan musician and teacher, performing at private events, corporate gatherings, retreats, and festivals across the UK, Europe, and worldwide.

He is the founder of the London Handpan Academy, where he has been running regular courses for the past two years. With monthly workshops for all levels, James has helped hundreds of students, from complete beginners to developing players, build confidence, technique, and musicality on the instrument.

His teaching approach focuses on simplicity, feel, and musical expression, making the handpan accessible even for those with no prior musical experience.

Blending meditative, calming soundscapes with more upbeat, rhythmic playing, James brings a unique balance of technical skill and creative flow, something that sits at the heart of his teaching.

He performs and teaches both in the UK and internationally, and also plays as part of The Handpan Gentlemen, offering a wide range of musical experiences across different settings.

With a background in television and acting, he brings presence and professionalism to everything he does. His music has been streamed over 2 million times on Spotify in the past year.

I don't normally leave reviews for anything but I couldn't get over the amount of detail in this course. I went into this with zero musical background and honestly didn’t expect much beyond learning a few basic patterns. It turned out to be a lot more than that. Within a really short time I was able to play something that sounded genuinely musical, which I didn’t think would be possible for me. It’s also surprisingly relaxing to follow along, which makes you want to keep coming back to it.
